Dr. Earth 3 ContolsTM effectively combats a broad spectrum of fungal diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, hytophthora, leaf blotch, scab, anthracnose, rust, Botrytis, black spot, peach leaf curl and a wide range of other plant diseases. The active ingredient in clove oil is eugenol. Its activity is synergized by basic (i.e. high pH) conditions, therefore a low-concentration, high-pH formula was developed. The resulting formula is an active broad spectrum fungicide. The high pH is developed using the inert ingredient potassium bicarbonate, which is known to inhibit cellular development. Its mode of action is linked with osmotic pressure, pH and specific bicarbonate/carbonate ion effects.
